The legacy of Aqua-Aerobic© cloth media began with the introduction of the first cloth media filter system to the U.S. wastewater treatment industry in 1991. Our extensive cloth research and development efforts over the past 19 years have resulted in the OptiFiber® family of cloth media.

Unequaled knowledge of cloth construction and expertise in its proper application are the reasons why Aqua-Aerobic is chosen more often over alternative filtration technologies. Aqua-Aerobic is dedicated to leading the industry in developing advanced cloth media solutions to meet the water and wastewater treatment challenges of today and tomorrow.

FILTRATION MODE - Solids contact the pile cloth fibers and ar removed from the wastewater stream. Some solids are stored deep within the media while others form a solids layer on the media surface. This layer promotes "autofiltration" or the removal of additional solids by contact with the solids layer.

BACKWASH MODE - During backwash, the backwash shoe vacuums the
filtered solids from the media. The vacuum pressure provided by the backwash pump causes the pile cloth fibers to extend through the opening, or slot, in the backwash shoe to enhance the cleaning action.
Technology pilot demonstrations can be beneficial by providing a snapshot of essential process operating conditions and allowing the customer to actively interact with the technology and factory personnel.
Aqua-Aerobic Systems is pleased to announce its new MD-4 Cloth Media Filtration Pilot/Demo System, providing our customers with the most comprehensive on-site testing and analytical services available. Our unique approach is designed to provide prompt operational feedback, allowing immediate fine tuning of operating parameters for the most effective pilot/demonstration experience.

Pilot Unit Filtration, Monitoring, and Analysis Equipment
Our new MD-4 system features a totally enclosed, drop deck trailer housing the following leading edge filtration and monitoring equipment, including:
• Influent flow meters
• Chemical feed and flocculation systems
• Influent VFD pump for customized test parameters such as
solids loading, variable
hydraulic loading rates, and pH
adjustment prior to the filter
• Influent and effluent online turbidemeter, particle counters, and TSS meters
• Spectrophotometer for phosphorus analysis and speciation
• Phipps and Bird jar tester
• 1-disk Aqua MiniDisk® cloth media filter
• SCADA controls system to tie equipment together
• Laboratory for on-site analysis of most operating parameters
Industry Leading Pilot Services
In addition to state-of-the-art equipment, the following industry leading services are provided by Aqua-Aerobic Systems for each pilot/demonstration:
• Draft test protocol outlining performance objectives and testing methods, based on
project needs
• Services of an experienced Aqua-Aerobic pilot unit technician from start to finish for:
– Supervising placement of the cloth media pilot trailer and making necessary
hydraulic and
electrical connections
– Process and mechanical operation of the pilot equipment for the duration of the test
– Sampling, laboratory testing and analysis
– Training plant personnel on operation and maintenance of the pilot unit
– Decommissioning of the pilot unit at the close of testing
• A comprehensive pilot study report which includes:
– Daily operating conditions
– Influent and effluent turbidity charts
– Influent and backwash flow rates
– Particle size, suspended solids, phosphorus analysis
(including speciation)
– Other specific data, per customer request
