The AquaDiamond cloth media filter project at D.C. Tillman Water Reclamation Plant (DCTWRP) won the 2010 Research Achievement Award from the California Water Environment Association (CWEA).
The project is the largest Title 22 cloth media filtration system installation in the United States. The plant has an average daily flow of 80 MGD but the eight (8) filter system has a design flow capacity of 176 MGD to accomodate for future needs. The filters consistently produce effluent turbidity less than 2 NTU and suspended solids less than 3 mg/l. The cloth media filters went into operation in December 2009, replacing the existing shallow bed sand filters. The filtration system was recognized for its innovative technology, low construction budget and accelerated design-build schedule.
