Aqua-Aerobic Systems, Inc. in partnership with the Rock River Water Reclamation District (RRWRD) in Rockford, IL hosted an Open House and Ribbon Cutting event on August 16, 2012 to officially announce the new Aqua-Aerobic Systems Research and Technology Center, located at the District’s central treatment plant.
In 2011, Aqua-Aerobic Systems and the RRWRD entered into a long-term agreement which allowed Aqua-Aerobic Systems to build an on-site research facility for the purpose of applied research and demonstration of new products and process technologies used in the treatment of wastewater. This collaboration allows Aqua-Aerobic Systems access to a variety of in-plant process wastewater streams from a full scale wastewater treatment plant – essential in developing and testing new products and process concepts for future commercialization and applications, both domestically and internationally. The Center will be an integral component of Aqua-Aerobic Systems’ industry-recognized technical seminar program where customers will have the ability to visit the Center and see full-scale products and the respective design features and capabilities of the Company’s advanced treatment technologies.
The Rock River Water Reclamation District will benefit from the new $500,000 Research and Technology Center through information sharing, technical and operational critiques and first-hand information on future product and technology developments. Collaborative efforts of the partnership have successfully been demonstrated from the initial construction phase of the new facility to the actual start-up of the equipment. “This is a classic case of a public-private partnership with no cost to District users”, says Bob Wimmer, President and CEO of Aqua-Aerobic Systems, Inc. Currently, the new Research and Technology Center operates the Aqua-Aerobic Cloth Media Filtration products and Membrane Technologies to conduct extensive research and testing.
Aqua-Aerobic Systems, Inc. is an applied engineering company and leader in the water and wastewater treatment industry, providing thousands of customers around the world with innovative and adaptive technologies while continuing its dedication to ongoing applied research, product development and public-private partnerships.
